Bernard O Sullivan & Co Ltd (BOS Agri) is located in John Street Dingle providing a wide range of products and services to farmers and the wider community through its friendly and obliging team.
Ba é Muiris Dan O Sullivan a bhunaigh an gnó sa bhliain 1949. Rugadh Muiris ar an 1 Eanáir 1916 ar an ngabhlán, Lios Póil. Ba é an seachtú mac i gclann mhór é. Ní raibh mórán sa tsaol acu. Ansan thosaigh sé ag déanamh obair thógála ar bhóthar Chnoc Bhaile Ristín ó 1934 go dtí 1939 (féach an pictiúr thuas). Tugadh an leasainm Dan ar mhuintir Uí Shúilleabháin ó aimsir athair Mhuiris i leith mar gur Dan an ainm a bhí air siúd. Ina dhiaidh san, thóg Muiris tigh ar cíos i mbun Shráid Eoin áit ar oscail sé tigh tábhaine. Ansan cheannaigh sé an tigh ina bhfuil an gnó anois ag feidhmiú ann - 14 Sráid Eoin agus leathanaigh sé an gnó amach go dtí earraí grósaera, cua earraí, breosla agus bia d'ainmhithe.
The business was founded by Muiris Dan O Sullivan in 1949. Muiris was born on 1 January 1916 in Goulane Lispole. He was the 7th son of a large family. From humble beginnings he worked on the building of the Ballyristeen Hill Road from 1934 to 1939 (pictured above). The O Sullivan family from Goulane inherited the nickname Dan from Muiris’s father Dan.
Following on from this he rented a house in lower John Street where he operated a pub. He then bought the premises where the business is currently operating in 14 John Street and expanded the business to groceries, hardware, fuel and animal feed supplies.
Thóg Bernard, mac Mhuiris, an gnó ar lámh óna athair sa bhliain 1979 agus is é atá sa stiúir le 44 bliain. Tá Darragh, mac Bhernard, tagtha ar bord sa ghnó anois – an tríú glúin mar úinéir ar an ngnó. Tá muintir Uí Shuilleabháin ag freastal ar phobal Chorca Dhuibhne le os cionn 75 bliain anois. Tá an fhoireann reatha ag obair go dúthrachtach ar son an phobail le os cionn 30 bliain agus ana-chreidiúint ag dul dóibh siúd as an rath atá ar an ngnó.
